Galaxy 66 meets Miss USA to support Best Buddies Maryland
Berlin, Maryland
Teams from around Maryland, Delaware, New York and New Jersey came out to play in the 2nd annual charity golf event in Ocean City, Maryland on June 23rd at the Glen Riddle Golf Club – Man ‘O War course. The Best Buddies Maryland office teamed up with the fine dining establishment, GALAXY 66, to put on this amazing event. The golf tournament again welcomed titleholders from the Miss USA Organization who participated in this two-day event. The Miss USA representatives who attended were Casandra Tressler (Miss Maryland USA 2008), Tiffany Andrade (Miss New Jersey USA 2008), Vincenza Russo (Miss Delaware USA 2008), Skylene Montgomery (Miss West Virginia USA 2008), Chelsey Rodgers (Miss District of Columbia USA 2008) and Breanne Silvi (Miss New Hampshire USA 2008).
The event started on the Sunday before with a pre-party at Galaxy 66 and included heavy appetizers, live entertainment and raffles. This event was a “Meet and Greet” and was free for golfers and open to the public. On Monday, the golfers assembled at the Glen Riddle Club House and enjoyed a complimentary lunch courtesy of Phillips Seafood which included crab cakes, their famous fried chicken and sides. After the golfers finished golfing and mingling with the special guests, everyone headed back to Galaxy 66 for a complimentary banquet and awards ceremony that included incredible food, entertainment, auctions and good friends.
The entrance fee for this event was only $500 per team of four people and included all of the above. Since the event this year was sold out and there was a waiting list to participate, we will be giving people the opportunity to reserve their spots earlier this year.
Events such as this go a long way in raising funds and awareness for our programs and recruits advocates for people with intellectual disabilities. The town of Ocean City have been so generous to Best Buddies and we would like to thank some very special people that made this event such a success.
